Code of conduct

This directory works because people trust it. These rules are what that trust rests on. Creating a profile means accepting them.

What is expected

• Write as yourself. Use your own name and your own project history. Do not create a profile for someone else.
• Answer honestly, not authoritatively. Your experience is one experience. Rules, allowances and procedures change from country to country and from year to year. Say what happened to you, not what must happen to everyone.
• Respect a no. If someone does not reply, that is an answer. Do not write again through another channel.
• Keep it about the programme. This is not a dating site, a job board or a place to sell anything.

What is not allowed

• Insults, harassment, threats, or any discrimination by gender, origin, belief, orientation or disability.
• Publishing someone else's contact details, photographs or private messages.
• Asking for money, donations, fees or a favour in exchange for help.
• Repeated messages to someone who has not answered.

Meeting in person

People do meet through this directory, and that is the point. Take the ordinary precautions anyway: meet in a public place the first time, tell someone you trust where you are going, and keep your own way of getting home. If a meeting feels wrong, leave. No explanation is owed.

If you are under 18, do not arrange to meet someone alone.

If something goes wrong

Every profile carries a report link. A report reaches a moderator, who can hide a profile immediately while it is looked at. Serious cases are passed to the association, and where the law requires it, to the authorities.

Breaking these rules can mean a hidden profile, a closed account, or both.
